3/29/2017 0 Comments March 29th, 2017OCD Story From This Month + Tips So far, the month of March has been alright for my OCD. The thing that I was most dissapointed about was that I haven't been able to complete my schoolwork, because part of my OCD is counting. This affects my schoolwork very often, badly. I have never gotten anything but A's before, so getting just "M's", for medical, was a pretty big deal for me. I like doing my homework. What do you do if you're in this situation as well? Don't worry about it, if you talk to your teachers, they will understand what's going on. However, Not every teacher is as flexible. If you have a teacher who refuses to give a break on homework, try talking to your school's guidance counselor. However, I'm not saying stop caring for schoolwork. Schoolwork is important, and not doing homework will only be temporary. However, if you think you can deal with doing homework, try a week doing your homework and make a scale of your anxiety level for every day, 1-10. If your anxiety scale is high, over a 7, every day, maybe you should consider focusing on your health first, before homework, for a temporary, short time.
Also, recently my friends were informed about my OCD. I realized that some of rituals made my friends very confused, so I decided the best thing to do would be to tell them. I highly suggest telling at least one of your close friends, someone who you trust. Or, tell your parent or guardian. You also can talk to a therapist if possible. At first, I wasn't so sure about going to a therapist. Fast forward a few months, after waiting on waiting lists, I am happy I have somepne to help me. I'm also on medication as well, for over a month now, but I'm not sure how much it has helped me yet because the medication will take a little while longer to start working. A meditation, reading a book, talking to parents, listening to music, watching movies like Harry Potter, even painting your nails, or playing a game of hide and go seeks are definitely all ways to help when anxiety gets high. A few weeks ago, I was in a school play and was able to stop my rituals while on stage. I definitely recommend participating in an activity like this. -Jamie !!!!!!!!!!
